Champions League semi-final draw as Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Man City eye glory

Manchester City and Real Madrid completed the line-up for the semi-finals of the Champions League as they saw off Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool respectively over two legs.

The Blues took a 2-1 lead to the Westfalenstadion but were made to work hard to book their place in the last four after Jude Bellingham opened the scoring on the night.

Riyad Mahrez’s second-half penalty nudged City back in front on aggregate and a stunning strike from Phil Foden made the tie safe..

Real, meanwhile, held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield after winning 3-1 in the Spanish capital in the first fixture.

The Reds missed a host of chances and will now rely on securing a top-four spot in the Premier League to retain their place at Europe’s top table next term.

City booked their place in the last four

The first leg of the semi-finals will take place on April 27 and 28, with the second legs a week later on May 4 and 5.

Chelsea made it through to the last four with a battling 2-1 aggregate victory over Porto, with both legs of their quarter-final taking place in Seville due to coronavirus restrictions.

The Blues won their ‘away’ leg 2-0 last week thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell, with Porto’s 1-0 victory in Tuesday’s second leg not proving enough to progress.

PSG gained revenge on Bayern Munich for their defeat in last season’s final by beating the Germans on away goals to progress, with Kylian Mbappe’s brace in the first leg in Munich proving vital as Mauricio Pochettino’s side won 3-2.

Bayern’s former PSG forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored the only goal of the second leg in Paris, but that wasn’t enough as Hansi Flick’s side bowed out on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
