He might have moved on, but Mesut Ozil hasn’t forgotten his time at Real Madrid.
The Fenerbahce midfielder was keeping a close eye on Saturday’s night’s Clasico, and took to social media to celebrate what was a big win for the Spanish champions as they moved top of the LaLiga Santander table.
“Amazing game,” Ozil posted on Twitter. “Big, big El Clasico points. The favourites for the title now.”
Ozil completed his tweet with the #HalaMadrid hashtag.
That wasn’t his only comment on the night’s action. Ozil was as impressed as anyone by Karim Benzema‘s gorgeous opening goal.
“The best striker of LaLiga showed his class again – my boy Benzi,” Ozil said.
The 32-year-old playmaker played a total of 159 appearances for Real Madrid in a three-year spell between 2010 and 2013, during which time he scored 27 goals and provided 80 assists.
