Referee Jesus Gil Manzano was at the centre of the attention towards the end of the second half of Saturday’s Clasico at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.
Gil Manzano was surrounded by Barcelona players after he waved away claims for a penalty when Martin Braithwaite went down under Ferland Mendy‘s challenge.
“The referee is right again,” Juan Andujar Oliver told Radio MARCA.
“There’s a little tug from Mendy but not enough to give a penalty.”
Barcelona‘s protests continued after the game, with Gerard Pique coming on to the pitch to make his point to Gil Manzano.
“It’s a clear penalty,” Ronald Koeman told the media.
