Real Madrid player ratings versus Eibar


Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid side beat relegation-threatened Eibar 2-0 in Madrid on Saturday before a huge week for the club, involving the Champions League ties against Liverpool and El Clásico versus Barcelona.

The leader at the back on the day. He played Ramos’ role and avoided the yellow that would have made him miss El Clásico. 8/10

Protected by the presence of Marcelo ahead of him, who took away his usual attacking threat. 7/10

Modric

Flawless. Accurate in his passing and positionally sound. He was rested with half an hour to go ahead of Tuesday’s game against Liverpool. Replaced by Kroos in the 61st minute. 8/10

Casemiro

Interception and assist to set up Asensio for his ifrst. Modric sat deeper to allow him to play further forward. He was everywhere, another typical all-round performance from the Brazilian. 8/10

Marcelo

Quiet. Needed more space to exploit his attacking qualities. He was replaced by Vinicius in the 68th minute. 6/10

Isco

Good game, but still lacking the brilliance that many know he possesses. He was replaced by Arribas in the 68th minute. 7/10

Asensio

Had a free-kick come back off the crossbar in the 21st minute, a goal disallowed and made it 1-0 from Casemiro’s pass. Dmitrovic saved him from scoring a second in the 52nd minute. Strong performance. 8/10

Benzema

He collected the award for the Player of the Month in LaLiga in March and wanted to justify the award from the first minute. Put away a lovely header to put the game to bed from a good Vinicius cross late on. Scored for the seventh consecutive game. The Frenchman is on a roll. 8/10

Kroos

He came in for Modric on 61′. After coming back from injury, it was important to get some minutes under his belt ahead of the Champions League midweek. 6/10

Rodrygo

He came in for Asensio on 61′. Played some nice football. 6/10

Arribas

He replaced Isco on 68′. Every time he plays he looks more comfortable in the team. 7/10

He replaced Marcelo on 68′. His connection with Benzema is forever improving. Assisted the French striker with a left wing cross. 7/10

He came in for Benzema on 80′. First minutes after four games out. 6/10
