Real Madrid – La Liga: Asensio with the golden touch again for Real Madrid

Marco Asensio is on a fine run of scoring form for Real Madrid, with his strike against Liverpool making it four consecutive games the Spaniard has found the back of the net in.

The 25-year-old has been up and down this season as he attempts to get back to his best following injury problems, but the evidence of recent weeks show he’s getting there.

Asensio has only scored six goals all season, but four of those have come in Real Madrid’s last four games: against Atalanta, Celta Vigo, Eibar and Liverpool.

Against Liverpool, his excellent goal could have been one of several as the man from Mallorca had other chances to score.

He showed once more the talent that Los Blancos need in attack, especially since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and with Eden Hazard so rarely available.

Asensio’s strike on Tuesday night also makes him the team’s joint-second top scorer this season, joining Casemiro and Vinicius Junior on six in all competitions.

Zinedine Zidane has always trusted the former Mallorca player and Asensio has been repaying that faith with goals in recent weeks.

The Frenchman would love Asensio to continue his current run for a few more games, especially with the next two encounters being with Barcelona and Liverpool again.
