Pedro’s Jose Mourinho comments could come back to haunt him after Roma appointment

Jose Mourinho has been named as the next Roma manager, taking charge from next season, which could be bad news for Pedro.

The Spaniard moved to the Stadio Olympico in the summer after his Chelsea contract expired.

It was Mourinho who bought Pedro to Stamford Bridge back in 2015 when he beat Manchester United to the signing of the former Barcelona man.

The Special One only lasted four more months in west London before he was axed after losing nine of the first 16 league games.

Following his departure Pedro conceded “the whole thing wasn’t right” as he also claimed trust between the manager and his players was “very low”.

The World Cup winner will now be teaming up with Mourinho once more and his comments could yet have a lasting affect.

“It was about everything, everything just wasn’t right,” he said at the time.

“We were very low in the league, the spirits were very low, the trust was very low, everything was going wrong.

“It made it very difficult to be fit, to be in a good position. It was just the whole thing – it wasn’t right.”

Pedro has been a regular for Roma this term as they sit in seventh place – 27 points off champions Inter Milan.

The capital-based outfit have only won three league titles in their history with the most recent of those coming 20 years ago.

Mourinho will no doubt have his own ideas about the squad he will inherit, which includes several players he has previously coached.

Former United pair Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are both plying their trade in the Italian capital – the former was signed and sold by Mourinho.
