Everton and Leeds are in the frame after Real Madrid decided to sell Brazilian legend Marcelo.

The 33-year-old left-back will be replaced at the Bernabeu this summer and is not in the plans of new Real manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Now the player’s agents are searching for a new destination, especially as Marcelo’s contract ends in June 2022.

The Brazil star, who has has a glittering career for club and country, played only 19 matches for the La Liga giants last season, scoring four goals.

But he has been a stalwart in Madrid since 2007 and also has 58 caps for Brazil. His long list of honours includes five La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues and four FIFA Club World Cups.

The defender would prefer to move to England or Italy, with Ancelotti’s former club Everton the early favourites.

He has asked for a minimum two-year contract, with an asking price of around £5m.

Leeds are also being sounded out but the Toffees look to be in pole position.
