Wonderkid tracked

Manchester City are keeping track of Motherwell teen Bailey Rice, it has been claimed.

Football Scotland reports that City have sent their Scottish-based scout Kenny Marshall to watch the midfielder in action.

The 15-year-old has captained Scotland at youth level and is said to be a “prodigious talent” at Fir Park, according to the report.

Rice is expected to sign his first professional contract when he turns 16 in October, the report adds, but it “it remains to be seen where that deal will be”.

‘Door open’ for Busquets

Pep Guardiola has told Barcelona Sergio Busquets the “doors of the Etihad Stadium are wide open” for him, should he want to join the club, it has been reported.

According to Spanish publication El Nacional, Guardiola believes his former player still has plenty of years left at the top of the game despite reaching the age of 33, and the City boss would love to see him spend those years playing for him once again.

City are reportedly willing to offer the player a “golden retirement card” by giving him the chance to play for City Group-owned New York City once he decides his time in Manchester is over.

Barcelona may be willing to part ways with the club legend in order to free up space on their wage bill amid their financial struggles, and to allow the next generation of players more playing time, the report adds.

Alvarez details emerge

Julian Alvarez’s transfer to Manchester City could be sealed “in the coming hours”, it has been claimed.

The Argentinian had reportedly been a target for botter rivals Manchester United, with reports claiming City made their move for the young forward on Friday.

According to Sport Witness, reports in Argentina claim the fee will be just under £20million – more than his reported £17m release clause.

Discussions are also said to be underway for the player to remain at River Plate on loan in order to play in the Copa Libertadores – meaning he could stay in Argentina for a further year in total.
