LaLiga Santander: Who is the favourite for LaLiga Santander: Atletico, Real Madrid or Barcelona?

With just eight games to go in LaLiga Santander, the title race between Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona is closer than ever.

Just two points separates leaders Atletico from third-placed Barcelona, with Real Madrid just one behind their cross-city rivals in second place.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been in wonderful form in 2021 and have managed to close the gap on Atletico, who themselves have begun to wobble in the last couple of months.

Saturday night’s Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona saw Los Blancos emerge victorious, which saw them leapfrog Los Rojiblancos and the Blaugrana, going from third place up to first.

However, Diego Simeone‘s Atletico were able to return to LaLiga Santander’s summit with a 1-1 draw away at Real Betis on Sunday night.

Curiously, Real Madrid and Barcelona have now lost one game apiece in their last 20 league fixtures, while Atletico have lost two in their last 10. They have also drawn four of those matches, so they have dropped 14 of a possible 30 points in this period.

What is beginning to look clear is that Atletico‘s trip to face Barcelona at the Camp Nou on May 9, in Matchday 35, could end up being decisive in the destination of the title.

Now, Real Madrid‘s focus will temporarily switch towards the Champions League as they face Liverpool in the second leg of their quarter-final tie, with a 3-1 lead from the first leg in the Spansih capital. Barcelona have the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club to look forward to next weekend, while Los Rojiblancos‘ only focus is on LaLiga Santander.

LaLiga Santander has one of the most fascinating title races in Europe, along with Ligue 1, and it will be interesting to see how things pan out. Let us know who you think will be crowned as champions below.
