John Terry responds to Jose Mourinho as ex-Tottenham boss sends Chelsea message

Jose Mourinho’s Instagram feed in recent days has started to look like a homage to The Special One’s greatest hits.

In the last nine days, Mourinho has made a number of posts highlighting anniversaries from years gone by.

First up, just a day after he was sacked by Tottenham, Mourinho posted a picture of him being held aloft by the Real Madrid players after they won a first domestic cup competition in 18 years by claiming the Copa del Rey back on April 20 2011.

It was a memorable day for the Real fans as not only did Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in extra-time result in a first Copa del Rey since 1993, it came against a Barcelona side who were dominating European football at the time.

And for the last three days, Mourinho has posted another picture each day recalling a fond memory from the past.

On Tuesday, he posted a picture of him holding off Steven Gerrard as the former England star attempted to get the ball off him, with the caption: “Anfield, April 27th 2014. Ball possession.”

That was the day when Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-0 to severely dent the Reds’ hopes of securing a first Premier League title.

On Wednesday, Mourinho followed it up with a picture of him sprinting across the pitch at Barcelona’s Camp Nou after Inter Milan produced a defensive masterclass to reach the Champions League final.

The caption read: “Camp Nou. April 28th 2010. The moment when adrenaline and happiness make you a sprinter.”

And on Thursday it was a picture of him drinking champagne alongside Damian Duff, Arjen Robben and John Terry after Chelsea had secured their second Premier League title, with the caption: “Stamford Bridge. April 29th 2006. Hanging out with some friends on a special day.”

And among the comments, was one from Terry where he replied with a blue heart and a trophy emoji.

Terry was Mourinho’s captain at Chelsea as the Portuguese led the club to their first ever Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006.

The pair also claimed an FA Cup, two League Cups and a Community Shield together in his first spell in charge, before claiming another Premier League and League Cup when he returned for a second spell.

It isn’t the first time the duo have shown the strength of their relationship on social media.

One of the final posts on Mourinho’s Instagram account before he was sacked by Spurs was of him embracing Terry when Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-0 in March.

His caption read: “Proud of my team @spursofficial and especially happy to feel my boys are and will always be my boys @johnterry.26.”
