With Barcelona completely focussed on reducing their squad and subsequently their wage bill, both Tottenham and Chelsea are interested in signing Miralem Pjanic.
Pjanic has been told that he can leave Barcelona as he is not in coach Ronald Koeman‘s plans, and was even offered the chance to rescind his contract which would save the club around eight million euros in salary.
Both Tottenham and Chelsea join Manchester United and Juventus in pursuit of Pjanic, but the player himself is in no rush to decide his future as he has stated on many occasions.
At the beginning of June he indicted that he will be enjoying the holidays with family before starting pre-season with Barcelona, who will be summoned by the club on Friday and Saturday to undergo medical tests.
Pjanic was the forgotten man at Barcelona last season after arriving for 60m euros plus five million in variables, and only participated in 30 matches, starting just 13, despite being one of the key signings made by Barcelona just one year ago. Koeman doesn’t trust him and thus the club are looking to for a way out, as well as lowering the wage bill.
The main focus at the Camp Nou is working to comply with the economic demands they need to meet in order to announce Lionel Messi‘s contract renewal.
