FC Barcelona – La Liga: Koeman: De Jong and Messi? Now’s not the time for a rest


Ronald Koeman spoke to the press ahead of Barcelona‘s Monday night clash with Real Valladolid.

With El Clasico coming up next weekend, there is concern over the fact that Leo Messi and Frenkie de Jong are a booking away from a suspension that would rule them out against Real Madrid.

Yet Koeman insists he will not rest them as the result on Monday is the most important thing.

“We know that these two players are one card away, but it is not the time to rest players due to cards or freshness,” he said.

“We have ten games left. There is always the risk, but the best thing is to put the team out that I think can win.”
