Ousmane Dembele has revealed that there are no ongoing negotiations between him and Barcelona over a contract extension.
The Frenchman, who has been in good form for Ronald Koeman‘s side this season, has just over a year left on his current deal at the Camp Nou.
“There are still no talks over a renewal, but I feel good,” Dembele told BeIN Sports.
Another player out of contract soon at Barcelona is Lionel Messi, whose deal expires this summer rather than next summer.
“He gives confidence to the youngsters,” Dembele said on his captain. “He helps us a lot. He gives me advice.”
One of the main reasons behind Dembele‘s upturn in form has been his shift to a more central position in the team.
“Now I’m playing as a striker, they call me Samuel Eto’o in the dressing room,” he revealed.
It’s not the first time Dembele has benefited from having helpful senior players and coaches at the club, such as his experience at Borussia Dortmund.
“[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang is the person that I’ve loved being with most in football,” Dembele said.
“[Thomas] Tuchel is my favourite coach.”
