Just when Barcelona looked like they were in a strong position to push for the LaLiga Santander title, their defensive problems came back to haunt them once again.
Ronald Koeman‘s side seemed to have remedied the issues in defence which saw them drop points a few months ago, but they’ve seemingly regressed at this crucial point in the season.
At half time of Barcelona’s match against Granada on Thursday evening, it seemed that the Blaugrana were going to take the three points. They were dominating and looked comfortable, but that changed after the break.
The first goal came from an error from Oscar Mingueza, who gifted the ball to Darwin Machis.
The second came from an error from the experienced pairing of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti. The Frenchman didn’t cover behind his teammate and Jorge Molina got in to head home the decisive goal.
Barcelona now have five massive games left in the league season and will need to sort out their issues at the back immediately if they’re to have any chance of lifting the title.
