Barcelona are on the up. Since 2021 arrived they’ve shown consistency in LaLiga Santander and they’ve overcome their poor start to the season.
Now, they are breathing down the necks of Atletico Madrid, whose lead at the top has been cut down to four points.
That comeback is thanks to what Barcelona have done in their last 13 games – winning 12 and drawing just one.
Barcelona are unbeaten in LaLiga Santander this calendar year. The only game they didn’t win came against Cadiz on February 21. A 6-1 win away at Real Sociedad on Sunday evening just came as the latest evidence that they’re Spain’s best side at the moment.
As well, they beat Granada 4-0, Alaves 5-1 and Huesca 4-1 in recent weeks.
Close to perfect in 2021
Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have dropped more points than Barcelona in 2021.
Los Rojiblancos have won nine, drawn four and lost one of their 14 games since the turn of the year. Zinedine Zidane’s side, meanwhile, have won eight, drawn three and lost one of their 12.
Ronald Koeman has managed to find consistency and a preferred XI, despite the Catalans’ injury problems.
