Chelsea transfer round-up: Sergio Aguero ‘tempted’ but Harry Kane deal ‘impossible’

Chelsea were by far the Premier League’s biggest spenders ahead of this season, but with a relatively new manager in place in Thomas Tuchel, they are set to spend big again.

Tuchel has identified several areas that require improvement in his squad, with a new forward possibly his greatest need with Timo Werner struggling for goals.

Erling Haaland is high on their transfer list, but the Blues will have to beat off nearly all of Europe’s top clubs for his signature.

That has led to them exploring other options in their bid to boost their goalscoring options.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be arguably the most-wanted free agent in Europe when the summer window opens.

The Premier League leaders announced the Argentinean would be leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of his current correct, with Chelsea, Barcelona and Juventus all interested in his signature.

The Evening Standard has encouraging news for Blues fans, as they claim that Aguero’s desire to break English records means Chelsea have a seat “at the table” in the chase for the 32-year-old.

He is currently fourth on the list of the Premier League’s highest goalscorers and could overtake Wayne Rooney in the record books if he signs a deal with Chelsea.

While Blues fans can be hopeful of a deal for Aguero, one man who will not be arriving at Stamford Bridge is Tottenham captain Harry Kane.

The Athletic reports that a deal for Kane will be “impossible” because of the “mutual hatred” between the clubs.

Kane is one of Europe’s deadliest strikers, but has been linked with a departure from Spurs in search of silverware.

Chelsea have reportedly sent scouts to watch Palmeiras midfielder Gabriel Menino.

Journalist Paco Belmonte had claimed on Twitter that a deal for 20-year-old Menino is virtually completed.

The Brazilian broke into the Palmeiras first team last season and has since made 60 appearances, scoring four goals and notching up seven assists from across the midfield.

But Fabrizio Romano has refuted Belmonte’s claims that a deal for Menino is on the verge of completion, reporting that Chelsea have merely scouted the midfielder.
