Ceferin on Agnelli: I thought we were friends, but he lied to my face

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin continues to be critical of the sides who are intent on creating a European Super League, with his latest comments being aimed towards Juventus president Andrea Agnelli.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are the three remaining clubs who have not renounced their decision to form a breakaway competition and, for Ceferin, it is an unacceptable position.

“We can put the protagonists into three categories. I put Andrea Agnelli in first place. It’s personal. In my eyes, this man no longer exists,” he told So Foot.

I thought we were friends, but he lied to my face until the last minute of the last day, making sure that I had nothing to worry about when the day before he had already signed all the necessary documents for the launch of the Super League.

“In the second category I place a group of leaders that I considered quite close to me, and I regret that they did not tell me in advance what they planned to do.

“Finally, in the last category, are the directors with whom I did not have close contact. I do not blame them, but they too will face the consequences of their actions.”

The relations between UEFA and the aforementioned three clubs are completely ruptured, with Europe’s governing body intent on making an example of them through serious punishments.
