Barcelona vs Real Madrid | El Clasico: Koeman aims to strengthen his position in El Clasico

Ronald Koeman is well aware that he is being closely scrutinised at Barcelona. The Dutchman was nearly gone last summer and there have already been plenty of rumours this campaign that he could be on his way out.

A poor start in the Champions League, paired with some less than convincing results in LaLiga have led to uncertainty over his positions as head coach.

Koeman knows the only way to stay in the Camp Nou dugout is to win matches and winning this Sunday’s clash against Real Madrid would go a long way in keeping him in a job.

A victory over his side’s biggest rivals would appease those in both the boardroom and in the stands and could be the catalyst which spurs this side on to a run of good form.

Coming off the back of two important wins against Valencia and Dynamo Kiev, this is the biggest week in Barcelona’s season so far. As such, three points on Sunday could be a turning point in this campaign.
