Barcelona: Memphis in pursuit of milestone set by Ibrahimovic and Fabregas

Memphis Depay has been one of the few Barcelona players to have stood out so far this season, as he has already scored twice, also registering one assist in his first three LaLiga Santander games for the Blaugrana.

The Dutchman teed up Gerard Pique against Real Sociedad and scored a goal against Athletic Club on the road, as well as another one with Getafe at the Camp Nou.

Should he net twice against Granada on Monday, Memphis will match a milestone set by former Barcelona players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cesc Fabregas.

The two men netted four goals each in their first four games as Barcelona players, as Zlatan scored against Sporting Gijon, Getafe, Atletico Madrid and Racing Santander in 2009/10 and the Catalan registered four goals and four assists against Villarreal, Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Valencia in 2011/12.

Memphis hit the ground running in Barcelona’s pre-season preparations and scored in three games, against Girona, Stuttgart and Juventus.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have lost two of their last four LaLiga Santander games against Granada, who beat them 2-1 at the Camp Nou last season.
