As if Gareth Bale‘s famous flag didn’t do enough to enrage Real Madrid supporters at the time, Barcelona have now brought it back up two years later, adding to their fury of Los Blancos with a joke on Instagram.
Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto, Riqui Puig and Neto Murara took a break from their pre-season schedule in Germany to head to a golf course this week. There, Barcelona‘s media team saw an opportunity.
Mimicking the Bale flag from 2019, which said “Wales, golf, Madrid, in that order”, Barcelona captioned the photos on social media with “Barcelona, training camp, golf, in that order”.
The original flag was displayed by a Wales fan, at the time when the forward was criticised for playing gold and for saying he enjoyed international football more than club football. It quickly went viral when Bale himself held it, becoming a meme.
