Barcelona: Barcelona have agreement with Lewandowski but Bayern Munich demand 50m euros

The chess game between Bayern Munich and Barcelonaover the transfer of Robert Lewandowski is continuing.

The player, through his agent, has made it very clear that he wants to leave the Bavarian club at the end of the season, firstly by rejecting the renewal offer that was made to him and then by stating that his intention is to leave for another club in the next transfer window.

Everything is agreed with Barcelona

Barcelona are the main suitors. Pini Zahavi, the player’s agent, has been discussing this possibility with Joan Laporta for some time.

With the player there will be no problem to reach an agreement because everything is already negotiated. The problem is Bayern Munich who are not going to make it easy for their star player to leave the club.

For starters, all the directors and executives of the club have repeated time and again that they are willing to keep him for one more season if he does not want to extend his contract.

Minimum price

However, behind closed doors, the position is not so categorical. Barcelona already know that there is a minimum price that the German club will never go below: 50 million euros.

The Catalan club was not prepared to reach this figure. Their idea was to pay at most 40 million euros including variables. Bayern have no intention of selling the player for this amount.

In search of a replacement

In fact, Bayern do not even plan to meet with Barcelona if their offer does not reach this minimum amount and even then they would only consider selling the player.

The problem is that before releasing Lewandowski, Bayern must already have a replacement in sight and so far that has not happened. At the moment, there are no high-level centre-forwards on the market.

Alternative options

There is not much to choose from. The primary one was Erling Haaland, but he is already committed to Manchester City.

There has been talk of Sasa Kalajdzic, Stuttgart’s centre-forward, after a meeting with his agent. And there is also Darwin Nunez, centre-forward of Benfica.

This player has undoubted quality, but his price, more than 100 million euros, makes this transfer unlikely.

The Premier League has clubs that are far better placed to pay such a fee.
