Barcelona: Ansu Fati opts against undergoing surgery for the time being

Ansu Fati has already informed Barcelona of his decision to not undergo surgery after picking up an injury during the Blaugrana‘s Copa del Rey exit away at Athletic Club last Thursday.

The Barcelona prodigy is in favour of continuing with conservative treatment after a meeting at the club’s facilities between the player, his father, his agent Jorge Mendes and Barcelona‘s medical staff.

Doctors offered Ansu Fati the aforementioned two options and he asked for time to make a decision, but he has now decided to undergo converservative treatment and that will keep him out of action for between six and eight weeks.

Affected by his latest injury

Barcelona insisted that the best option for Ansu Fati was to undergo surgery. This would mean that he would be out for a longer period, but it considerably reduces the risk of a setback.

However, for Ansu Fati, the idea of missing out on the remainder of the season once again after his tough experience last season following his previous knee operation was an important factor in his reluctance to undergo surgery.

Barcelona accepted the forward’s decision, but they haven’t ruled out an operation depending on how he recovers from this injury. Meanwhile, Ansu Fati is devastated as he only managed to participate in 10 games last season due to his knee injury, which forced him to undergo several surgeries.

The Blaugrana didn’t take any risks with Ansu Fati at the beginning of this season, but due to discomfort and a setback, he has only been able to play 10 games this season, in which he has netted five goals.
