Barcelona: Barcelona in Bayern’s hands: First with Lewandowski and now with Dembele

Barcelona are yet to finalise the renewals of Ousmane Dembele, Gavi and Sergi Roberto, but of the three the most difficult deal to sort is that of the French attacker.

The positions are distant, although they hope to bring them closer in a meeting that is still to be scheduled.

While a date for the meeting remains up in the air, Bayern Munich, who have been trying to sign Dembele for months, have taken a step forward and have shown a firm interest in the 25-year-old.

Therefore, Barcelona are not only discussing a move for Robert Lewandowski with Bayern, but the name of Dembele – a free agent on June 30 – is also likely to pop up.

Barcelona‘s leaders believe that the figures they will offer to the France international will be close to those he will get from Bayern, who are expecting major departures in their attacking department this summer.

Barcelona’s financial situation

Barcelona are going through a delicate economic situation and are weighed down by their low salary cap, which has come after years of misspending.

For the same reason, Barcelona cannot match the figures offered by Paris Saint-Germain, another of the big clubs that are after the former Borussia Dortmund player.

But, despite these proposals, Dembele has not yet signed with any other club. The Frenchman is awaiting Barcelona‘s final offer, which will be revealed at the next meeting.

The fact that he has not yet put pen to paper with another club gives some hope to Xavi Hernandez, who is pushing for his renewal, although in the Camp Nou offices they are not very optimistic.

Barcelona informed Dembele‘s camp in the last meeting they had a couple of weeks ago that they will make an effort to keep him and present him with a creative contract based on bonuses, which they hope will satisfy him.

They also made it clear to him that the situation is difficult and that they will not give the green light to deals that they simply cannot afford.

Barcelona understand that if Dembele stays it will not be for financial reasons, as both Bayern and PSG can undoubtedly offer him a more lucrative contract.
