Antonio Conte has been urged to build his Tottenham team around centre-back Cristian Romero.

The Argentinian arrived from Atalanta for around £42million last summer but has been sidelined since the 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park on November 7.

But he made an impressive return as he lasted 77 minutes in the 3-1 FA Cup fourth round win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, and former player Paul Robinson was particularly impressed.

It comes after bitter rivals Arsenal were forced to perform a U-turn and take down a brutal dig at Spurs which had appeared on their online club shop.

Frank Lampard has also defended ex-Spurs player Dele Alli after he completed his move toEverton.

Arsenal remove Spurs dig

Arsenal have removed a message on their website which brutally mocked their rivals Spurs.

The message, which appeared on the club’s online shop when visitors had yet to add anything to their basket, read: “Your basket is as empty as Tottenham’s trophy cabinet.”

It has now been removed, with the Gunners describing the message as an “error”.

The joke was a dig at Tottenham’s lack of silverware in recent years, with the club winning just two League Cups and one Community Shield since their FA Cup victory in 1991.

Key player emerges

Ex-Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged Antonio Conte to build his side around the “phenomenal” Cristian Romero.

The former player has heaped praise on Romero following his return to the Spurs starting XI against Brighton on Saturday.

He had been injured ever since limping off during Argentina’s 0-0 draw with Brazil in November, but made a successful return as Spurs booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

And following the impressive performance, Robinson has claimed he is “the best defender at the club” and that Conte should build his entire team around the Argentinian.
