Transfer update: Arsenal ‘plan’ player-plus-cash Maddison move
Arsenal are plotting a double £50million swoop on Championship side Sheffield United.
The Gunners are hoping to land both goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and midfielder Sanger Berge.
Mikel Arteta is after a new stopper to compete with Bernd Leno whilst he also wants extra competition in the Emirates engine room.
The Blades currently find themselves in the Championship having finished bottom of the top flight last season but will not be letting their star men leave on the cheap.
It is not known whether they would be willing to accept the sum of £50m for both players but it appears Arsenal are ready to test the waters.
New United manager Slavisa Jokanovic has spoken about his desire to keep both Berge and Ramsdale in South Yorkshire.
Earlier today, speaking ahead of his first competitive game in charge of the Blades against Birmingham City on Saturday, Jokanovic spoke on the pair’s future.
He said: “I will be really surprised if they don’t start against Birmingham.
“There is still 22 days to go in the window and I hope they stay with us.

“They are important players in my squad. I am thinking about them as part of my squad and that’s it.
“Of course the possibility exists (sale), but I am not thinking about being without them.”
Arsenal’s season begins on August 13, when they travel to Premier League newcomers Brentford.
