The Manchester United hierarchy may have dismissed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from his post back in November, but the club remain wedded to at least some of the Norwegian’s ideas.

It was Solskjaer that brought teenage sensation Amad to the club in January of last year from Italian outfit Atalanta despite the fact he barely had enough time to make an impact in Bergamo before the move.

The talented but inexperienced forward impressed in the few outings he has been given so far in a United shirt but has failed to force his way into the first-team fold on a regular basis under both Solskjaer and his successor Ralf Rangnick.

Prior to Solskjaer’s sacking, the former United boss explained how Amad would spend the majority of the 2021/22 season out on loan to continue his development instead of stalling it on the bench.

Ahead of United’s third game of the season away at Wolves, Solskjaer confirmed the news to the media when asked about Amad’s future.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Should United have sent Amad out on loan? Comment below

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to send Amad out on loan prior to his sacking as Man Utd manager

“Yes I do [expect him to go out on loan]. It’s not 100 per cent signed but we’ve agreed,” Solskjaer said.

“I don’t have to say which team it is yet [smiles], but we’ve found a place that Amad feels excited about and we feel excited about.”

Solskjaer’s optimism over a loan move for Amad was clearly premature, given the Ivorian actually failed to find a club to house him temporarily in the summer and as a result was left on the bench at Old Trafford while United’s season capitulated.

However, the move has finally come to fruition and Amad has since joined Scottish giants Rangers on loan for the second half of the season.

Rangers manager and former Arsenal star Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already given an insight into how Amad made the decision as to where he would play his football until the end of the current campaign.

Pressed on whether the Gers’ playing style was a factor in the 19-year-old’s mind, the Dutchman explained: “That was an important part of the club that he chose to play for, for the rest of this season.

“When you have a shadow list of potential players you want to bring in, I think the quality he possesses is a quality I am using in my team.

“He will know what kind of system we will play but I think they were all positive talks with him and the stature of the club also excited him.

“That’s why the talks were positive and I’m glad that we could welcome him to this football club.”

Amad featured just once for Man Utd this season before being sent on loan to Rangers

Amad has already spoken to the Rangers faithful for the first time since the switch, declaring his excitement for the upcoming months.

“I am delighted to join Rangers until the end of the season,” the teen said.

“It is fantastic for me at this stage of my career to have the opportunity to come to such a big club that is challenging on a number of fronts and will give me some excellent opportunities to test myself in many environments.

“I look forward to training with my teammates for the first-time tomorrow and to meeting the fans for the first time at Ross County on Saturday.”
