Odegaard: It’s important to know what Real Madrid want

Whilst Arsenal will spend another season outside of the Champions League, Martin Odegaard appears happy with his time with the North London club, although he has made clear that it’s important for him to know what Real Madrid want with regards to his permanent future.

An outstanding loan spell with Real Sociedad was cut short to bring the Norwegian back to the Spanish capital, yet he found chances scarce under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. A further loan was then inevitable and Odegaard left for Arsenal in January.

“I’m happy here at Arsenal, we will see after the season what will happen,” Odegaard explained to Sky Sport Deutschland.

“I’m owned by Real Madrid, so we have to speak to them, it’s important to understand what they want.”

There is no purchase option embedded in the loan with Arsenal, and it could be possible that Odegaard believes he can play at an even higher level than that.

As far as the Spanish giants go, they don’t believe Odegaard will be sold, although there is also the prospect of the club’s difficult financial situation putting a deal for Eduardo Camavinga on hold.
