After Everton decided to part ways with Rafa Benitez after less than six months in charge, the Toffees are now on the hunt for a new manager who can change their fortunes around

Everton are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Rafael Benitez following their defeat to Norwich on Saturday.
After a positive start to the season, winning four of his first six Premier League games in charge, Benitez oversaw a dismal run in which the Toffees slipped down to 16th in the table and picked up just one win in the following 13 fixtures.
With the high expectations at the club and the talent within the squad, Benitez’s side were mightily underachieving and the Spaniard has now paid the price.
But now all attention turns to who will take charge of the team next and what kind of appointment it will be.
Either way, the Goodison Park faithful need someone to pick the team up and start producing results quickly and there are a few early candidates who could certainly do that.
Who do you think Everton should appoint as their new manager? Have your say in the comments section below.

Candidates
The lead candidate to take over at Goodison Park is former manager Roberto Martinez.
The 48-year-old is the current manager of the Belgium national team, who he lead to the Nations League finals in October, but will be remembered for leading Everton back into Europe after achieving a fifth place finish in 2013-14 and being sacked in 2016.
After being given the boot by Tottenham Hotspur on November 1 after just four months in charge, Nuno Espirito Santo is back in the running for a Premier League job and is one of the favourites to take over at Goodison Park.
Nuno impressed during his four-year spell at Wolves after getting them promoted to the Premier League, achieving two successive seventh-placed finishes in the top flight and reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Everton legend Wayne Rooney is in the running for the job of his boyhood club and a move back to Goodison Park could certainly be on the agenda due to his connections with the Toffees.
Rooney is currently in charge of Derby County in the Championship but the Rams have gone through financial difficulties and suffered a points deduction in recent times, so an offer to manage in the Premier League from a club close to his heart could be hard to turn down.
Frank Lampard and club legend Duncan Ferguson have also been linked to the vacancy at Goodison Park.
Objective for the rest of the season
Coming in half way through the season is difficult for any manager, especially when taking over a squad that is not their own.
An appointment now at least enables the new boss to sign a few players he may want during the January transfer window, but there is arguably still enough quality in this Everton team to have a good second half of the season.
So, does the new manager focus on an FA Cup run, with the potential for it to contribute to a bottom-half finish, or does he sign some new players in January which can help Everton climb the league table and concentrate on achieving as high a finish as possible?
The expectations are high at Goodison Park, so whoever is appointed will need results quickly, otherwise the pressure will mount as heavily as it did for Benitez.
