Martin Odegaard echoes Arsenal sentiment with Gabriel Martinelli prediction

Gabriel Martinelli has yet another admirer in the form of Martin Odegaard, who has tipped the Arsenal youngster for the top.

The forward has spent large parts of this season out injured which has hampered his progress.

Mikel Arteta has been keen to utilise Martinelli where he can with his fearless nature a huge plus.

He previously said: “He is another one who brings something different to the team, and we need players like him.”

The Brazilian was signed as an unknown quantity for £6m in 2019, which now looks an absolute bargain.

Odegaard has hit the ground running in north London with his creative flair a big plus.

He was asked which Gunner has impressed him the most and saved particular praise for Martinelli. 

He told the Premier League : “Obviously we have Bukayo [Saka] and Emile [Smith Rowe] and they are already playing so much.

“But I think one guy who hasn’t played that much lately is Gabi Martinelli.

“He’s such a big talent, you see him in training every day and you see it. He’s a really talented player with a lot of qualities.

“So I think definitely he’s one for the future. And he’s so young still, so I will go with him.”

The Norwegian has backed him to become a fixture for Arsenal as he added: “As I said, he’s really young so he just has to keep working hard – as he’s doing every day in training.

“He will reach his goals because, from what I see every day in training, he’s a top, top talent.

“For him it’s just about continuing doing his work and then everything will come for him.”

Martinelli seems to impress the majority of players whom he comes across.

Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang backed him to become a “superstar” last season after he scored his first league goal.

“Gabi’s gonna be a superstar,”  Aubameyang tweeted. “Not because of the goal because of the attitude, energy and mindset.”

Gunners goalkeeper Bernd Leno has also claimed the sky is the limit for the 19-year-old.

“He can become a world class player,” Leno told  The Metro . “World class 100 per cent because he has talent, he has quality.”
