Jose Mourinho claims he didn’t watch Hugo Lloris interview because he’s “very mature”

Jose Mourinho claimed he didn’t watch Hugo Lloris’s explosive interview last week because he is “a very mature guy” and has “emotional stability”.

Lloris was fuming after Tottenham’s Europa League exit to Dinamo Zagreb last week, blasting the performance as “a disgrace” and hinting at issues within the dressing room.

Spurs bounced back on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa which moved them up to sixth-place in the Premier League and helped ease some of the pressure on Mourinho.

And afterwards the Tottenham boss was asked whether he watched his captain’s interview.

Mourinho replied by insisting he doesn’t pay attention to what is said about his Spurs team.

“I didn’t watch it,” he told Sky Sports. “I closed myself in my shell as I was saying before, I don’t need to read or listen or to watch to have a personal reaction.

“I am a very mature guy and I have emotional stability.”

Despite his claim, it would be hard for Mourinho not to have heard about his goalkeeper’s angry rant following a dismal performance in Croatia last Thursday.

Tottenham had gone to Croatia with a two-goal lead from the first leg, but crashed out of the Europa League thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from Mislav Orsic, four days after a dismal North London derby defeat to Arsenal.

Afterwards, Lloris said he and all his team-mates must take responsibility, and claimed the team’s performance was ” a reflection of what’s going on in the club”.

The keeper blasted: “It’s just a disgrace. I just hope everyone in the changing room feels responsible for the situation, because it’s a disgrace.

“Obviously we are a club which is full of ambition but I just think the team at the moment is a reflection of what’s going on in the club.”

“We have a lack of basics, lack of fundamentals and all our performance is just in relation to that,” said the France international.

“I think mentally we should be stronger, we should be more competitive. Today, I didn’t feel that on the field, unfortunately.

“When you are not ready at this level you pay straight away.

“It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, there is quality everywhere in the Europa. If you don’t respect the opponent it’s kind of permission and that’s what happened today. “
