Cristiano Ronaldo insists he has no time to celebrate passing 800 career goals as he prepares for the start of Ralf Rangnick’s reign.

The Portugal star bagged a brace against Arsenal in front of the Manchester United interim boss who was in the stands due to visa issues.

Michael Carrick made it three games unbeaten as caretaker boss with a dramatic 3-2 win over the Gunners before announcing his exit from the club immediately after the full-time whistle.

Ronaldo etched his name in the record books once again as he became the first-ever player to reach 800 goals in his career during the win.

The forward reached the milestone as he put the hosts 2-1 up in the second half converting Marcus Rashford’s cross.

He then added his 801st strike from the penalty spot to seal the 3-2 victory over Mikel Arteta’s men.

But Ronaldo has no time to mull over the incredible achievement and his focus is now on Rangick’s first game in charge against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

He said on Instagram : “Our minds are already set on the next game, there’s no time to celebrate! Today’s win was very important to get back on track, but there’s still a long road to go until we reach our destination…

“Congrats to all my teammates, great spirit tonight! And a very special thank you to our supporters, we couldn’t have done it without you.”

Ronaldo returned to the line-up after he was benched for the 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the weekend.

But Carrick dismissed the notion that his decision caused any disruption in the dressing room as he hailed his performance.

He said: “Cristiano has been unbelievable this week. He didn’t start against Chelsea but it wasn’t a big deal for us – he’s just incredible, the way he goes about his business.

“There was no drama. It’s a helluva group of players in there and I really believe a successful team will emerge.

Bruno Fernandes hailed his compatriot and teammate for achieving the amazing feat.

He said “Incredible. We all know he is improving game by game, year by year. He wants to keep being the best and that’s what he did. He knows how to self-motivate.”
