Chelsea suffer biggest ever Premier League home loss in shocker against relegation strugglers West Brom

CHELSEA suffered their biggest ever Premier League defeat at home in their shock 5-2 loss to West Brom.

The Blues had conceded just twice in Thomas Tuchel’s first 14 games before their unbeaten run came to an end in spectacular fashion.

Christian Pulisic had given Chelsea an expected lead at Stamford Bridge before Thiago Silva’s red card turned the tide in the visitors’ favour.

Matheus Periera’s quick fire double sent the Baggies ahead into the break before goals from Callum Robinson and Mbaye Diagne sealed the win.

Mason Mount did pull the goal difference down to three but the result still marked the first time Chelsea have let in five at home in the Prem.

The Blues had only conceded three or more in the league on seven other occasions in the past 29 years since its 1992 inception.

Leeds United were the first to inflict such humiliation at Stamford Bridge with Tony Yeboah and Gary McAllister sealing a 3-0 win in 1995.

Later that year, Manchester United arrived in West London to put four past Chelsea with a double from Paul Scholes in the opening ten minutes.

Mark Hughes pulled one back for the Blues against his old side but two late strikes from Ryan Giggs and Brian McClair wrapped up the three points.

The Red Devils are also the only side to score more than three away at Chelsea in the league in two matches.

Again it was Scholes who broke the deadlock before Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer each got on the scoresheet.

Rivals Arsenal achieved the feat back in 1997 with a 3-0 win – the same scoreline a Sergio Aguero-inspired Manchester City notched in 2016.

But Sunderland memorably put three past Chelsea in 2010 while Bournemouth were the last to register such a defeat three years ago.
