Arsenal have been warned they are set to make a mistake in the January transfer window as they prepare to bring in reinforcements.

The Gunners have been looking to add a top-class centre-forward to their ranks, with rumours suggesting they are chasing Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, and a midfielder, with a loan move for Juventus ‘ Arthur Melo said to be in the works as well.

But former Manchester United midfielder Kleberson has warned Mikel Arteta he’s signing the wrong Brazilian with Arthur.

It comes after the Gunners boss sent a message about Vlahovic’s potential arrival, and after Gabriel Martinelli was praised by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Martinelli’s response to Klopp

Gabriel Martinelli has responded to Jurgen Klopp’s praise once before already.

The Gunners forward was singled out for praise by Liverpool boss Klopp after the Reds booked their place in the Carabao Cup final with a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.

It is not the first time that Klopp has heaped praise on the Brazilian, calling him the “talent of the century” after a League Cup clash against the Gunners in October 2019.

And Martinelli’s response shows the high regard with which he holds the Liverpool manager.

Arteta’s Vlahovic warning

Mikel Arteta has sent a warning to his bosses at Arsenal as the club tries to seal the signing of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Gunners have been chasing the Fiorentina star as their top priority this month as they look to seal his signature before more clubs enter the race for him in the summer.

Arteta was left frustrated by his side’s failure to put the ball in the net as the Gunners were unable to make the best of their home advantage in the second leg as they crashed out of the competition.

And his post-match comments included a thinly veiled message to sporting director Edu about Arsenal’s need for reinforcements.

Arsenal told of ‘transfer mistake’

Arsenal should bring in a different Brazilian midfielder rather than sign Juventus ace Arthur Melo on loan this month, according to ex-Man United star Kleberson.

Mikel Arteta wants to add more options in midfield and the club have offered to take Arthur on loan for six months.

The Gunners have previously been linked with Lyon’s Bruno Guimarães – and it is the Ligue 1 star who Kleberson sees as a better fit for the club.

The former United midfielder explained why his compatriot would be a “fantastic signing” for Arsenal as he explained why he’d be a good fit at the Emirates.
