The club have already confirmed the signings of full-back Nuno Tavares and central midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, and centre-back Ben White looks set to also be unveiled on Friday and complete a £50m move from Brighton.

But they don’t look likely to stop there, and are still being linked with a whole host of big-name players.

And it will be intriguing to see just how many new faces they manage to get through the door before the window slams shut.

Here is all the latest gossip coming out of the Emirates…

Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is believed to be eyeing up a move to the Premier League in the near future.

And a switch to the Emirates is one which may well appeal to the Argentinean 23-year-old.

Martinez scored 17 goals in Serie A last season to help his side to the title.

But according to Eurosport the player has always been intrigued by the prospect of plying his trade in England.

And with Inter in serious financial difficulties, they could be tempted to sell if the price is right.

Arsenal appear to be one of the most suitable teams for Martinez’s signature.

However, a price-tag of around £65m could well put them off, and with Martinez’s contract not expiring until 2023, Inter are in a strong bargaining position.

Maddison message sent

Gunners legend Ray Parlour believes the heavily-linked James Maddison may be too expensive for his old club to sign this summer.

But he is convinced that they will attempt to sign at least two more players once White is confirmed.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Parlour said: “The problem (with Maddison) is the price tag. Leicester would would want top money for him and would he want to leave Leicester?

“I think they will be backed and I think Brendan Rodgers will be backed. If he needs money to strengthen and bolster the squad I think the owner will say no problem there you go you just won us the FA Cup.

“Whether Arsenal have got the money to say he’s got to be worth £60-plus million maybe more. He’s a great, great player Maddison. He’s really really improved Leicester.

“I know for a fact Arsenal are looking for a No.10 and a striker at the moment and it’s about getting value for money.

“Certainly Leicester might price him out of the market from Arsenal’s point of view and they might have to look elsewhere.”

But that deal eventually broke down, and according to The Athletic the Gunners are now preparing a new contract to keep Xhaka at the club.

It will be intriguing to see how big a part the Swiss international plays next season considering how near he came to an exit.
