Arsenal have already spent more than £75million, but following the acquisitions of Ben White, Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga, the North London club are still hoping to add a few new faces this summer.

Arteta is reportedly in the market for a goalkeeper, a midfielder and a forward to propel his team that laboured to a hugely disappointing eighth-place finish last time out.

Here, Mirror Football looks at all the latest transfer news surrounding Arsenal.

Bernardo Silva has emerged as a target for Mikel Arteta to acquire a creative midfield player.

Arteta would no doubt have been alerted to the comments of ex-colleague Pep Guardiola, who admitted the Portuguese midfielder would like to leave City this month, owing to limited game time last season.

“He’s our player. Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave. Still, they are our players under contract, and when they bring some offer and their agents come here, and they want to leave, we are open to discuss absolutely everything, but it depends on them,” Guardiola said.

As per transfermarkt, the 26-year-old is valued at £63million, three million more than fellow target James Maddison, who Arsenal have been put off due to his massive price tag.

It remains to be seen whether a deal could be struck between old pals Guardiola and Arteta, as Bernardo Silva is actively seeking to move away from the Etihad.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also linked, according to transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Amid links to NewcastleUnited, Joe Willock has calmed the nerves of Arsenal fans by posting an Instagram picture posing in the new Arsenal kit, wearing number 28.

The post is accompanied by two butterfly emoji’s, suggesting Willock is backing himself to blossom into a key player for Arteta’s side this season.

Willock enjoyed an awesome spell on loan with Newcastle United last season, bagging in an astonishing eight consecutive Premier League games as the Magpies closed the campaign in excellent form.

Arteta said last month following their defeat to Hibernian: “Well, he wasn’t involved today because he had a little groin issue. He trained yesterday really well, but we didn’t want to risk him.

“Joe is part of our plans, he’s our player, and in the time that he is here, we will try to make the most out of him. He had a great experience on loan.”

Ramsdale edges closer

Aaron Ramsdale has been a top target for Arsenal this summer

The Gunners are edging closer to their fourth signing of the season.

Arsenal have been in hot pursuit of the Sheffield United stopper throughout the summer, and reports suggest their efforts will accelerate in the coming days.

Football.london understand the Gunners intend to submit another bid for the England u-21 international, though reports of the figure being close to £30m are wide of the mark.

Sheffield United are due to play Carlisle United in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, August 10.

If Ramsdale plays, it will leave him cup-tied if he eventually signs for Arsenal this season.

Given that Leno is expected to retain the number one shirt this season, this would significantly hinder Ramsdale’s opportunities to accrue game time for Arsenal.
