Arsenal may have completely blown their Champions League hopes with two successive defeats but the club are already looking ahead to next season as they look to continue their rebuild of a squad that has shown plenty of progression this season.

The Gunners are heavily linked with a move for Manchester City ’s Gabriel Jesus this summer and the Brazilian has supposedly ‘decided his stance’ on a transfer to the Gunners if they finish outside the top four, while Mikel Arteta is set to receive significant financial backing in the upcoming window.

Gabriel Jesus ‘decides stance’ on Arsenal’s UCL failings

Arsenal remain in the hunt to sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus this summer as they look to finally replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club and secure a guaranteed source of goals for next season.

However, the Gunners are set to suffer a major setback when they inevitably fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League following two successive defeats, and it is thought that this could cause complications over a move for the Brazilian striker.

But according to reports, via the Express , Jesus and his representatives have decided they will not completely rule out a transfer to Arsenal if the club fails to secure Champions League football, which is almost a given ahead of their final game of the season on Sunday.

Arteta to be backed with ‘significant’ budget

Arsenal’s Champions League hopes may be all but over following Monday’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United but the club’s hierarchy are adamant in the fact that they will back Mikel Arteta with a ‘significant’ budget this summer as they look to build on this year’s progress.

The Gunners need to defeat Everton on Sunday and hope that Tottenham Hotspur lose away to bottom club and already-relegated Norwich City, however unlikely, in order to have any chance of securing UEFA Champions League football next season.

However, according to The Telegraph , bosses at the Emirates are planning to supply Arteta with a significant sized warchest regardless of whether they clinch the top-four or not, which will be music to the Spaniard’s ears given the fact they will need plenty of reinforcements.

Sambi-Lokonga’s brother gives update on future

Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has endured an uninspiring first campaign at the Emirates Stadium following his reported £17.2 million transfer from Belgian First Division A club Anderlecht last summer, in which he has featured just 23 times in his debut season.

The 19-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in Mikel Arteta’s side and this may cause questions over his potential future at the club, but his brother, Paul-Jose M’Poku, has spoken out on his sibling’s future at the club.

Speaking to RTBF , he said: “We’re not worried. Other players like Kevin De Bruyne or Romelu Lukaku have also taken time to establish themselves in the English Premier League. The difference with the Belgian league is big, and Arsenal is not a mid-table club.”
