Arsenal’s top four hopes may still hang in the balance but the Gunners have been wasting no time in securing a number of transfers ahead of the close season, as Mikel Arteta looks to continue his rebuild of the club over the next few months.

It was announced last week that the north London club had agreed on a fee for Brazilian winger Marquinhos, before it was confirmed on Monday that the youngster had agreed a five-year contract with the club.

And with plenty of other transfer dealings going on, Mirror Football takes a look at all of the latest stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Arsenal to sign Marquinhos on five-year contract

Arsenal have reached a ‘full agreement’ for the signing of Brazilian youngster Marquinhos from Sao Paulo in what is set to be their first deal of the summer transfer window, with the 19-year-old joining on a £3 million deal.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news via Twitter on Monday morning, as reported by Metro , in which he stated that it was a ‘done deal’ and that the winger has signed a five-year contract with the Gunners until June 2027.

The official Barcelona club statement read: “FC Barcelona has informed the French player Kays Ruiz that he is doing without his services. In this way, the French midfielder puts an end to his Barça stint. The Club wishes him luck and success in the future.”

Ruiz had once been dubbed as the ‘new Messi’, as reported by football.london , although it remains to be seen whether a deal would be of interest to the Gunners, despite their previous interest in the player.

Arsenal ‘leading race’ to sign Serie A star

Arsenal are reportedly in pole position to sign Udinese right back Nahuel Molina as Mikel Arteta looks to make the Argentina international one of five signings following the end of the season.

Molina has scored seven goals in 34 Serie A appearances this campaign and despite being one of the standout players for his side this year, Udinese could be tempted to cash in on a player who they signed for free back in September 2020.

According to Calciomercato, via the Express , Arsenal are keen on signing Molina and including Pablo Mari as part of the deal, with the Spaniard having spent the second half of this season on loan at the Serie A club, making 15 appearances.
