There is a great level of uncertainty around Arsenal at the moment with the club one of 12 to sign up to a proposed new European Super League.
It remains unclear if that project will truly lift off the ground for next season and what potential economic ramifications there might be.
However, the Gunners will be putting the framework in place for potential transfers this summer as they look to boost their squad after a disappointing domestic campaign.
Mikel Arteta looks set to continue to reshape his squad this summer in what will be his fourth transfer window at the helm of the club.
Here are the latest transfer rumours from north London.
Bellerin waits for Paris
Hector Bellerin is edging closer to an exit from the Emirates this summer with Catalan newspaper Sport claiming he is on the market this summer.
The report claims that whilst he has never closed the door to joining Barcelona – whom he left for north London, aged 16 – the Blaugrana already have plentiful options in the right-back position.
In this scenario, Bellerin is said to be waiting on a call from French champions Paris Saint-Germain as they need to reinforce the position.
PSG’s first-choice right-back is currently Alessandro Florenzi – aged 30 and on loan from Roma – so a move to the French capital may make sense.
Gunners turn to Spain
Arsenal will therefore be looking to add a starting right-back with Barcelona-owned defender Emerson Royal on their radar, according to Fichajes.net.
The Brazilian is co-owned by Real Betis – for whom he has played since January 2019 – and the Catalan giants in a somewhat convoluted deal, with 50 percent of his rights at both La Liga clubs.
The 22-year-old has impressed at the Seville-based club but due to Barca having options in the position and a pressing financial situation, they may look to cash-in on the player this summer.
Emerson has clocked up 71 appearances for Betis since his switch from Atletico Miniero two years ago and has won two caps for the Brazilian national side.
Advanced talks for permanent deal
Arsenal are closing in on a permanent deal for goalkeeper Mat Ryan, according to Football Insider.
The Australian shot-stopper joined the Gunners on a loan deal in January and has made two appearances for the club – in February’s 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa and Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham.
Ryan has been a deputy to Bernd Leno at the club and is likely to be available for significantly below Brighton’s previous valuation of £10million, the report adds.
