Mourinho previously said: “Granit Xhaka is the main man in the entire Arsenal midfield, you can’t see it unless I lend you one of my eyes.

“Without him, Arsenal is lost. He is a leader. Remember, mistakes are made by humans.”

Xhaka joined Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 and amassed a total of 13 goals and 20 assists in 220 appearances across all competitions.

The former Basel star stood out in Euro 2020 but the Gunners are looking to offload some players in order to raise funds after missing out on Europe for the first time in 25 years.
