Thiago Silva admits Milan ‘struggled’ vs. Chelsea but Tuesday ‘will be a different match’

Former AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has professed words of affection for the Rossoneri after his Chelsea side won 3-0 last night at Stamford Bridge.

It was a disappointing Champions League evening for AC Milan as they lost 3-0 to Chelsea, with their eight injuries ultimately catching up to them as several players struggled and the team looked inferior in all departments.

Wesley Fofana’s opening goal in the first half was a sign of things to come as he slotted home after a corner was not cleared, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting against his former club to make it 2-0 and then Reece James put the game beyond doubt.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Silva reflected on the performance from the Blues in their comfortable victory against Milan, with his comments relayed by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.

“I feel good, it was a special and important day. Milan were in trouble because Chelsea played a great game. It is normal that if one team plays well the other goes into difficulty. Then it all depends, if Leao scores that goal there at the end of the first half it changes the game completely,” he said.

“I always tell my players: within a game there are many games. If he had scored at that moment, the second half would have been a different game. It was important not to concede that chance. Then in the second half we played well and Milan struggled a bit, but Tuesday will be a different match.”

Thiago Silva was asked for his opinions on Milan’s centre-back pairing in Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori.

“I don’t like making comparisons… Everyone has their own qualities, they play very well. I know Tomori more, when I got here he was there. He tried to go away to try new experiences. I am happy about last year’s Scudetto, I hope Milan can repeat themselves this year but on Tuesday we want to win again.”
