Theo Hernandez explains why he is ‘very happy’ at Milan but stresses: “I have to improve”

AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez believes that he has improved since he arrived at the club, and stressed that he is very happy with the Rossoneri.

Stefano Pioli will be able to rely on Theo Hernandez for tomorrow’s huge home match against Juventus, with the Frenchman having celebrated his birthday yesterday and also his return to the squad having been out with a muscle problem from the Napoli game before the international break.

Milan were missing Theo in the defeat against Chelsea on Wednesday night and that is a sign of just how important he has become given his incredible development since arriving from Real Madrid three years ago.

Theo gave an interview to the magazine Undici in which he spoke about his time with Milan so far and also the feeling of becoming a father for the first time as happened earlier this year, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“When I arrived at Milan I was not defending well. Now I have improved, but I can still improve more: I have to improve, in many different things,” he said.

“I am very happy at Milan, the people here help me and love me, the team is strong and we work well. My team-mates and I want to write other important pages in the history of Milan. We have started the new season well and we want to continue like this. Our fans always help us, they are a real plus for this club.

“The group is very important. We have an incredible team, with very strong players, we are true friends. We all work well together. We are young but not very young, we are growing and maturing a lot, as individuals and as a group. This is why we won the Scudetto. Because we worked well together, and the coach helped us.

“My son? I would really like Theo Jr. to become a sportsman too, a footballer, maybe. But he is still too young! He is only five months old. He is the most beautiful thing in the world. Being a father puts you at peace with life and with the universe. My life is simple: I play football and then I stay with him.”
