‘Stronger’ De Ketelaere gears up for first league start in four months

AC Milan will look to get back to winning ways this afternoon when they face off against struggling Sassuolo at home, and there will be a big opportunity for Charles De Ketelaere.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that De Ketelaere should get his first start in the league today after four months without one. In fact, his last appearance from the first minute dates back to October 1st and that crazy match against Empoli, which was then by Fode Ballo-Touré’s winner in added time.

The Belgian has a great opportunity today against Sassuolo and he hopes to thrive off the enthusiasm of the fans, who after a few appearances had already seen potential in the Belgian before he was dropped and began a psychological crisis of sorts.

Pioli tried several times to unlock the player, also using him in different positions than usual, but to no avail. However, the head coach said in his pre-match press conference yesterday that he is full of belief.

“He’s certainly better physically, he’s stronger, he takes more shots. His position? He’s an attacking midfielder,” Pioli said. Now De Ketelaere hopes for his first goal, and it would be special if it came in a difficult moment for the team in front of over 70,000 fans at San Siro.
