AC Milan

Sassuolo captain among top targets for Milan to replace Diaz

AC Milan might not get to keep Brahim Diaz on a permanent basis and have thus been forced to evaluate their options on the market. In the last few days, the Domenico Berardi idea has gained more steam.

Berardi has been linked with the Rossoneri many times in the past but the request of Sassuolo have always been too high. This summer, however, the situation could be different as the Neroverdi know they might not get more chances to cash in.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, via SempreMilan, Milan are expected to sign a right-winger in the event of Diaz’s departure. That’s where the Spaniard has played most of the time during the spring and Paolo Maldini has several names on his list.

Lille’s Edon Zhegrova is one of the top targets but the Berardi idea has gathered a lot of steam in recent days. Nicolo Zaniolo (Galatasaray) and Riccardo Orsolini (Bologna) are also on the list but not the favourites.

At the age of 28, Sassuolo are well aware that this might be one of their last chances to cash in on Berardi, who has 12 goals and 7 assists this season. Milan are willing to spend €20m on Diaz, so the price tag will have to be roughly the same.
