Romelu Lukaku’s comments on Inter Milan milestone hint at striker’s view on transfer

Romelu Lukaku celebrated reaching the 20-goal barrier in Serie A for the second successive season by reaffirming his belief he “made the right decision” in joining Inter Milan.

The Belgian striker, 27, has found a new lease of life at the San Siro since leaving Manchester United in 2019 and has quickly become Inter’s leading man.

He was on target again for his club on Sunday, grabbing the only goal as Inter edged a slender 1-0 win over Bologna, further extending their lead at the top of the table.

Inter are now on course to claim the title as they sit eight points clear of nearest rivals AC Milan with a game in hand.

But attentions have already turned to where Lukaku will be playing his football next season, with Manchester City and Chelsea both heavily linked with his signature.

Yet it seems Lukaku has little intention of turning his back on the Nerrazurri anytime soon after praising his own transfer decision and hailing his Inter colleagues.

“I’m really happy with the win today; it was a complicated game. We took a big step and need to continue down this road,” Lukaku told Inter TV.

“It’s a great moment for me – I made the right decision coming here. I’ll do everything I can to help the team because I’m nobody without my team-mates.

“The group is the most important thing. We have our aim and need to keep this up.”

Lukaku’s hot streak has now seen him net eight goals in his last nine games for club and country, and Inter are keen not to lose their No.9.

According to a report from The Sun , Inter have now slapped a £110million price tag on Lukaku to ward off outside interest, though it is believed he is content to remain at the club so long as Antonio Conte is still the manager.
