Pioli asks for signing ahead of January to boost Scudetto hopes

Stefano Pioli has asked the AC Milan management for one particular signing to strengthen the squad ahead of the second part of the season, a report claims.

According to a report from Fichajes.net, it is Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea that is back on Milan’s radar ahead of the January transfer window, or rather he never vanished from it having been linked with a move in several windows prior.

Ziyech was one of Chelsea’s star signings during the summer of 2020 as the Moroccan forward arrived from Ajax for €40m having been one of the start of the Eredivisie side led by Erik Ten Hag that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019, losing right at the death against Tottenham Hotspur.

Things have not worked out in London for Ziyech as first Frank Lampard and then Thomas Tuchel did not use him much, while Graham Potter too has not made him a consistent starter, fuelling rumours of a possible departure from Stamford Bridge.

The report adds that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are hunting for the right reinforcements to boost the Scudetto bid with Pioli having asked for the signing of Ziyech specifically to help the right wing position.
