One of the most contentious issues from the summer window was whether AC Milan had properly reinforced in the playmaker position after losing Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Real Madrid loanee has 4 goals in 7 appearances, netting against Sampdoria (the winner at the Marassi), Liverpool (the goal to put Milan 2-1 up), Venezia (again the winner) and versus Spezia (another winning goal).
Stefano Pioli explained his role after the game against Venezia, remarking: “Last year we played with a playmaker-midfielder, but Brahim is a pure quality attacking midfielder.” Maybe this type of player that Milan needed to make the leap in quality in the attacking area: a player who knows how to be decisive both on his own and by moving for others.
The 22-year-old has already won Milan nine points this season, making the decision to bring him back look more and more sensible.
