Milan’s latest offer to Leao ‘not suitable’ with ‘no meetings scheduled’

The current offer that AC Milan have put forward to Rafael Leao is not considered good enough and the situation is at a standstill, according to Manuele Baiocchini of Sky.

There continues to be a lot of media attention surrounding the future of Leao as he is yet to sign an extension to his current contract which runs out in June 2024, despite Paolo Maldini’s publicly declared wishes to find an agreement firstly before the World Cup and then by the end of January.

The club were even forced to respond to an article published in La Gazzetta dello Sport which spoke of disagreements over the release clause that might be in the new deal and a breakdown in talks because of the obstacles to over come.

Baiocchini spoke during an interview with MilanNews about the future Leao and he confirmed the other reports that have been circulating suggesting that things have not moved forward in recent weeks.

“There’s no news. The situation is at a standstill. Milan have formulated an offer and that offer is not suitable for renewing Leao’s contract, otherwise he would have already signed the agreement,” he said.

“I expect it could be another meeting in which they will try to find a solution, both in terms of the player’s salary and the fine owed to Sporting CP. However, there are no meetings scheduled.”
