AC Milan Women were brought back down to earth emphatically as they were beaten 4-1 by city rivals Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.
It took only two minutes for the Nerazzurre to take the lead as Irene Santi made it 1-0. Before the 15-minute mark, the in-form Tabitha Chawinga made it 2-0 to Rita Guarino’s side.
It seemed as if the game could swiftly turn into a battering but then after 32 minutes, there was some hope for the Rossonere as Martina Piemonte found the back of the net.
That was very much a false dawn for Maurizio Ganz and his side though, as Ghoutia Karchouni, another of Inter’s key in-form players, made it 3-1 shortly after the break.
With just 15 minutes left to play, Ajara Nchout wrapped up the points by making it 4-1.
Inter stay in fourth after Fiorentina’s win over Pomigliano, but Milan are four points behind them in fifth place. That is the position they seem to be consigned to.
