Milan to miss out on €30m duo as Man City and Lazio close in on deals

AC Milan appear to have missed out on the signing of two players they have been heavily linked with over the past few weeks in Nicolo Casale of Hellas Verona and Julian Alvarez of River Plate.

Starting with Casale, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) are reporting that the negotiation between Lazio and Verona for the transfer of Casale to the Biancoceleste is heating up. Claudio Lotito must inject some new capital as he did last summer to get the deal fully pushed through, or bring Lazio’s liquidity index back to positive through a sale.

Denis Vavro to FC Copenhagen on loan with option to buy has already been made official and Vedat Muriqi who should return to Fenerbahçe on loan with obligation to buy, so Lazio are expected to close the deal for Casale via a €1m loan plus obligation to buy of €9m. The 23-year-old was mentioned as a centre-back target for Milan for the summer.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports are among the sources claiming that Manchester City are expected to complete a deal in the region of £17m (€20m) for Julian Alvarez, and the Argentina international is expected to remain on loan at River Plate until the summer. He was mentioned as a long-term centre-forward option for the Rossoneri, also in view of the summer.
