Milan still monitoring 56-goal Atalanta star and could make attempt in August

AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Josip Ilicic for the attack and could wait for the right moment, according to a report.

Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini have been reported as having an interest in the 33-year-old forward for the last few weeks now, given that he is under contract until 2022 and appears to have a bad relationship with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are continuing to monitor Josip Ilicic as a low-cost option. The Rossoneri have not given up on the idea of signing the Slovenia international therefore, as long as Atalanta – perhaps at the end of August – decides to sell him at a discount.

The situation is clear therefore: Milan are watching on and taking note of the developments. Ilicic has 56 goals and 38 assists in 145 appearances for Atalanta, showing that he can contribute consistently to the attack.
